- R1 — Recruiter call, with two "puzzles" asked live:
- A probability puzzle: 3 coins, two fair and one not fair — what is the probability that you have a cheated coin (reported answer: 50%). See recruiter-call-puzzles.md.
- A Fermi estimation: estimate the number of billionaires in the US. See recruiter-call-puzzles.md.
- R2 — Take-home, followed by a round where you explain your code for the take-home.
Outreach / Recruiting Style
- Mechanize reached out to a student club offering $5k if somebody gets an offer (referral-bounty-style outreach).
- The CEO personally reached out to candidates met at a career fair.
- Community skepticism was voiced: "I think they are just using people as training data." At least one candidate ghosted the process after a peer's conversation with the CEO.
